National Spacepower Center Consortium Presents First Integrated Pilot Demonstration to U.S. Space Force Leadership

This demonstration represented the consortium’s first combined deliverable, with more industry involvement and mission situations in the pipeline

WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, July 23, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Space Force Association has revealed the founding industry group backing its National Spacepower Center (NSpC) along with the successful delivery of the consortium’s inaugural integrated pilot demonstration to top U.S. Space Force officials.

On July 21, 2026, SFA together with NSpC consortium participants Redwire, COMSPOC, Sedaro, OpenC3, and TigerVision showcased a pilot demonstration to Chief of Space Operations Gen. B. Chance Saltzman and Lt. Gen. Douglas A. Schiess, Deputy Chief of Space Operations for Operations. The event was held at Sedaro’s facility in Arlington, Virginia.

The initial consortium brought together its respective strengths and internal research and development resources to construct and integrate the pilot demonstration in under four months. Created in response to a challenge posed by Gen. Saltzman, the hypothetical Space Dogfighting scenario combined orbital data, physics-driven simulation, command-and-control software, engineering models, and immersive visualization technology within a single framework to demonstrate how intricate space activities can be converted into understandable mission outcomes for senior officials and members of Congress.

“When we unveiled the National Spacepower Center in December, we pledged to establish a practical setting that would enable leaders to grasp the realities of space as a warfighting domain,” said Damon Feltman, President and CEO, Space Force Association. “Within less than four months, the consortium progressed from an idea to an integrated prototype and presented it to senior Space Force leaders. This is exactly what the NSpC was designed to accomplish: unite government and industry to make spacepower more concrete and comprehensible for decision-makers.”

SFA formally established the National Spacepower Center during its Spacepower Conference in December 2025. The NSpC was created to assist government, military, industry, and partner-nation leaders in more fully understanding the space domain, the character of space warfare, and the operational realities that underpin U.S. national security.

The July 2026 pilot demonstration featured:

-Commercial orbital data and maneuver analysis supplied by COMSPOC

-Physics-driven simulation, scenario integration, analytics, and visualization provided by Sedaro

-Spacecraft engineering models from Redwire

-OpenC3 COSMOS command-and-control software

-Immersive visualization technology from TigerVision

The pilot scenario depicted a fictional adversary spacecraft moving into close range of a U.S. missile-warning and missile-tracking asset. The situation illustrated how interference with a space system could impact support for terrestrial military operations, and how orbital geometry, timing, and resource limitations shape possible response options.

“The true worth of this environment is not any single model, display, or company capability,” said Dillon Cox, Chair, National Spacepower Center. “It lies in the capacity to unite credible data, operational software, and physics-driven simulation around one mission challenge. That gives leaders a means to observe how a situation evolves and to examine the consequences of various policy and resourcing choices.”

Gen. Saltzman and Lt. Gen. Schiess took part in the demonstration together with Laura Brent, Senior Advisor to the Chief of Space Operations, and Kathryn Kolbe, Assistant Deputy Chief of Space Operations for Installations and Logistics. The leaders offered detailed input on how the NSpC environment could aid strategic education, acquisition and resourcing advocacy, mission analysis, experimentation, force development, and other uses.

The July demonstration was an initial pilot rather than a final setup. SFA and the consortium will apply the senior leaders’ feedback to improve the environment, create additional scenarios, broaden industry participation, and customize future demonstrations for different audiences and purposes.

The demonstration advances a challenge Gen. Saltzman has stressed throughout his term: helping national leaders better grasp the operational realities of space and the capabilities needed to achieve space superiority.

“The National Spacepower Center is built to expand alongside the mission,” Feltman said. “Our next move is to build upon the initial demonstration, grow the consortium, and craft scenarios that tackle the most critical spacepower questions confronting the nation.”
