The HCIactive Team
HCIactive presents its strategy for leveraging AI to cut through administrative inefficiencies and streamline healthcare operations.
HCIactive detailed its vision today for the future of healthcare administration, in which technology shoulders more of the administrative burdens rather than adding extra layers of systems for humans to handle — that’s the essence of HXE.
Healthcare organizations depend on technology across eligibility, claims, compliance, benefits management, member engagement, and other operational tasks. But digitizing these functions does not automatically simplify them — administrative work often remains scattered across different systems, workflows, and people. HCIactive believes the next step in healthcare technology will not come from stacking on more features, but from cutting down the amount of complexity that people must navigate.
“Healthcare administration should require less administration,” said Mary Lotharius, COO at HCIactive. “The opportunity with AI isn’t just to make existing software more sophisticated. It’s to reduce the repetitive work and operational complexity behind healthcare processes, allowing people to spend more time on the decisions, relationships, and outcomes where their expertise matters most”.
HCIactive is putting this approach into practice through Human Experience Engineering (HXE), the discipline that directs how the company pinpoints healthcare and operational friction and engineers AI around the experience and outcome that need improvement.
Instead of beginning with a technology and searching for where it fits, HCIactive starts with the problem: what takes too long, what generates unnecessary work, where information becomes fragmented, and where people are handling complexity that technology could take over. AI is then used where it assists with repetitive execution, coordination, processing, documentation, and other administrative tasks.
The company’s overall direction reflects a move away from technology that primarily gives people tools to perform work, toward technology that assumes more of the work surrounding those processes.
For HCIactive, the gauge of progress is simple:
What became easier because of the technology?
That question steers how the company approaches healthcare AI, its technology platforms, and the experiences it designs for administrators, employers, brokers, members, and other healthcare stakeholders.
