Fourteen leading in-house lawyers will start the ChIPs Network General Counsel Boot Camp, a 12-month initiative focused on learning and networking, during an in-person gathering on October 21, ahead of the ChIPs Global Summit 2026 in Los Angeles.

"The General Counsel Boot Camp is a unique opportunity for women prepared to assume the highest legal position in their companies," stated Monica Phillips, ChIPs director of learning, content and DEI, who designed the program. "It is intended for leaders who are 12 to 24 months from becoming general counsel, integrating hands-on experience, mentorship, and networking. Yet the cohort itself is what truly distinguishes it. These women become enduring friends, mentors, and an innate support network. They honor each other's achievements and support one another during difficult times."
Of the 57 individuals from cohorts 1 through 4, 33 have received promotions, with nine advancing to general counsel positions and five to Chief IP roles, she reported.

Funding for the ChIPs General Counsel Bootcamp is provided by a generous grant from ChIPs Board Chair Dorian Daley.

In addition to the October 21 launch in Los Angeles, Boot Camp participants will convene March 9-11, 2027, in San Francisco; July 20-22, 2027 in Chicago; and October 13, 2027, in Los Angeles prior to the 2027 ChIPs Global Summit.
