FORT MYERS, FL, UNITED STATES, September 23, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The AlmaLinux OS Foundation, the nonprofit organization that manages the free, community-governed open source enterprise Linux distribution AlmaLinux OS, has confirmed that board chair benny Vasquez will be a featured speaker at the Atlas Digital Summit. This private AI infrastructure summit is scheduled for September 28–29 at the Gamlabio Theater in Reykjavik, Iceland.
On Tuesday, September 29 at 4 p.m. in the Petersen Suite, Vasquez will lead the session “Who Controls the Stack? Open-Source Governance and Resilience in the AI Era,” which falls within the Security Track of the executive roundtable block “Who Owns the Future: Consolidation and Control.”
AI platforms depend on Linux and numerous other open source projects, each governed differently—ranging from NGOs to commercial entities. During this roundtable, leaders in hosting and infrastructure will compare their approaches to evaluating the projects they rely on. Topics include governance, maintainer health, license and trademark terms, security response, and new obligations arising from the EU Cyber Resilience Act. The conversation will also address how companies can gain influence in the projects they depend on through sponsorship, engineering contributions, and leadership roles. Attendees will walk away with a group-developed checklist of questions to consider before an organization relies on any open source project.
