CanFish functions as a separate smart fishing brand with its own product roadmap, audience, and community, while leveraging CHASING’s background in underwater robotics, engineering, and product development. This arrangement enables CanFish to zero in on real fishing scenarios while tapping into the technical strengths behind CHASING’s underwater technology operations.

A Fishing Problem Came First
CanFish wasn’t created with the intention of putting yet another electronic gadget on the market. It started with a common frustration: the outcome of a cast often tells anglers less than they think.

A lure might come back empty even when a fish followed it. A stretch of silence could hide activity the angler never noticed. Fishermen also wonder: How does the underwater environment look? Is there any visible action nearby? Is this spot worth continuing?

CanFish launched the F1 in 2020 as its debut smart fishing product, an early step into underwater viewing. That work laid down a principle the brand still follows: technology should help anglers grasp more of the fishing process, not take over from the angler.

CHASING was founded in 2016 and has a decade of experience in building underwater robotics and related technologies for both consumers and professionals. Its work covers underwater reliability, imaging, control, and navigation across different water environments.

CanFish borrows relevant pieces of that expertise based on what each fishing product needs. For underwater imaging, this involves lighting design, matching lenses and sensors, and image processing for tricky water conditions. Product reliability is built around target depth, whether it’s used in freshwater or saltwater, and the physical demands of fishing. Smart functions may pull from experience in control algorithms, navigation, sonar integration, or AI-assisted recognition.

The approach isn’t to replicate the same technology suite in every product. Different CanFish items use different skill sets depending on the fishing issue they solve. This keeps development angler-focused while grounding it in a proven underwater engineering framework.

From F1 to a Broader Smart Fishing Portfolio
Over time, CanFish has broadened how underwater information can aid fishing.
After the F1 in 2020, the CanFish F1 Pro arrived in 2022 featuring a rotatable camera and motorized depth control. In 2023, CanFish CF1 added castable live underwater viewing to the lineup, letting anglers inspect visible underwater conditions while fishing.

In 2024, CHASING CanFish Fishing CamX tackled a different need. Built for lure fishing, Fishing CamX records underwater footage for later review instead of providing a live feed during submersion. Anglers can study visible lure movements and fish interactions after the trip, including follows, missed strikes, and other moments that might never have been felt through the rod.
In 2025, CanFish enhanced the CF1 with AI-driven fish arrival alerts. Under suitable conditions, underwater imaging can spot visible fish activity and push a notification through the app.
CanFish is also working on the CanFish F2, a next-gen smart fishing system meant to combine sonar, underwater vision, AI-assisted functions, and navigation.
Together, these products show a progression: from watching underwater conditions, to recording what happened, to recognizing visible activity, and toward tying together multiple sources of fishing data.
