Developed From Genuine Hospitality Cleaning Operations
WorClean’s creation stems from the hands-on experience of Hoan Clean, a hospitality cleaning brand run by SM Holdings.
Cleaning operations at lodging facilities demand that numerous tasks be finished within the tight window between guest checkout and the next arrival. Managers must juggle scheduling, cleaner assignments, property-specific directions, progress verification, image reviews, supply oversight, and information exchange with property owners and external vendors.
In many organizations, these activities remain scattered across messaging apps, phone conversations, spreadsheets, paper checklists, and personal memos. As the number of properties and cleaners grows, disjointed communication often leads to missed verifications, inconsistent documentation, and an increasing reliance on individual managers.
WorClean integrates these workflows into a unified system, enabling management firms, cleaning companies, individual cleaners, and property owners to access data according to their specific roles and permissions.

WorClean also pulls reservation information in iCal format, presenting lodging schedules separately from cleaning schedules. This allows not just cleaners but also staff handling linen and consumable deliveries or pickups to verify check-ins, check-outs, and extended stays when planning their tasks.
A Development Approach Grounded in Real-World Use
WorClean gains from direct exposure to actual cleaning operations. The Hoan Clean group currently oversees cleaning activities across 97 facilities in Tokyo, Chiba, and Sapporo, with additional operations being developed in Asahikawa and Kushiro. More than 10 extra facilities are also slated for inclusion.
Through its own operations and regional collaborators, the project has access to a cleaning operations network of approximately 50 people. This figure refers to a network of cleaning firms, individual cleaners, and regional partners, and does not reflect the employee count of WorClean or SM Holdings.
This network allows the project team to gather operational needs, test workflows, pinpoint usability concerns, and steadily refine the product based on field input and operational metrics.
Upcoming Development and Collaborations
WorClean’s initial focus is on vacation rentals, private lodging properties, small hotels, hospitality cleaning firms, vacation rental management companies, and licensed residential lodging management businesses.
Future development could involve deeper connections with property management systems, smart locks, access-control data, linen providers, inventory suppliers, and other hospitality technology services. The project also seeks to broaden its use to hotels, property management, facility management, and multi-site operations.
After honing the product and business model within Japan, SM Holdings is exploring a later expansion into Southeast Asian markets, including Vietnam and the Philippines. No specific overseas launch date or target market has been determined yet.
Development and management are currently led by SM Holdings Co., Ltd. The company is also making arrangements to establish a new entity centered on WorClean, with plans to transfer relevant intellectual property and contracts to that organization in the future.
